Grief Counselling

Everyone’s experience with grief is unique. It’s part of the human experience, and is experienced in everyone's life at one point. It represents the disappearance of something or someone cherished.

Experiencing grief can feel overwhelming and lonely. You may experience denial, sadness, a sense of being lost, or even angry. All of these feelings and emotions interchange and are not part of a continuum as one would imagine. Using psychoeducation during your counselling session allows me to further understand your connection to grief and is pivotal in the grief journey. 

When it comes to grief counselling, there are various approaches used at Liv Therapy Services, such as psychoeducation, Narrative therapy, Cognitive behavioural therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment therapy. My approach is to work with you, understand the circumstances that surround your new reality, and create a space where you can go from a sense of disorganization to reorganization using a blend of one or various approaches that will work best for you. 

My experience with grief counselling helps me establish a relationship with you. Together, we will meet virtually where you can remain in the comfort of your own home. I understand that when you’re feeling like there is no way out of processing all the emotions it may be beneficial to speak to someone who is outside of your social circle to provide a neutral and safe space to discuss your experience.

During our time together, we will talk about the emotions you’re going through and how you’re feeling. Processing loss takes time. We will work together through some exercises that will provide you with the skills to help you heal. Grief counselling is a journey and I would love to help you on your journey to recovery and getting back to feeling like yourself.
